【摘要】:Thepropertymeasuredbythistestistheapparentmodulusofrigidity,G,sometimescalledtheapparentshearmodulusofelasticity.Itisimportanttonotethatthispropertyisnotthesameasthemodulusofelasticity,E,measuredintension,flexure,orcompression.TherelationshipbetweenthesepropertiesisshowninAnnexA1.Themeasuredmodulusofrigidityistermedx201C;apparentx201D;sinceitisthevalueobtainedbymeasuringtheangulardeflectionoccurringwhenthespecimenissubjectedtoanappliedtorque.Sinceitispossiblethatthespecimenwillbedeflectedbeyonditselasticlimit,thecalculatedvaluewillnotalwaysrepresentthetruemodulusofrigiditywithintheelasticlimitofthematerial.Inaddition,thevalueobtainedbythistestmethodwillalsobeaffectedbythecreepcharacteristicsofthematerial,sincetheloadapplicationtimeisarbitrarilyfixed.Formanymaterials,itispossiblethatthereisaspecificationthatrequirestheuseofthistestmethod,butwithsomeproceduralmodificationsthattakeprecedencewhenadheringtothespecification.Therefore,itisadvisabletorefertothatmaterialspecificationbeforeusingthistestmethod.Table1inClassificationD4000liststhecurrentASTMmaterialstandards.Thistestmethodisusefulfordeterminingtherelativechangesinstiffnessoverawiderangeoftemperatures.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthestiffnesscharacteristicsofplasticsoverawidetemperaturerangebydirectmeasurementoftheapparentmodulusofrigidity.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Note18212;ThistestmethodandISO458-1andISO458-2addressthesamesubjectmatter,butdifferintechnicalcontent.
