【摘要】:Thisguidecoversaframeworkfortheprotectionofhealthcareinformation.Itaddressesbothstorageandtransmissionofinformation.Itdescribesexistingstandardsusedforinformationsecuritywhichcanbeusedinmanycases,anddescribeswhich(healthcare-specific)standardsareneededtocompletetheframework.Appropriatebackgroundinformationonsecurity(andparticularlycryptography)isincluded.Theframeworkisdesignedtoaccommodateaverylarge(nationalorinternational),distributeduserbase,spreadacrossmanyorganizations,anditthereforerecommendstheuseofcertain(scaleable)technologiesoverothers.Electronicinformationexchangeandsharingofdatainhasbeenthebackboneofindustriessuchasfinancialinstitutionsforseveralyears.Costcuttingmeasuresandarealneedforsharingofinformationaredrivinghealthcareservicestowardincreaseduseofcomputer-basedinformationsystems.Oneoftherequirementsfortheabilitytoshareandexchangehealthcareinformationisthattheinformationbeprotected.Selectionofstandardswasperformedusingthefollowingcriteria,whicharedescribedinmoredetailin4.2.Securityrequirementsaredefinedinthisframework,and(insomecases)inadditionalASTMguidelines.ASTMstandardspecificationsareusedtodefineprotocolsandmessageformatsinsupportofinteroperability.Existingstandardswillbereusedorextendedwheneverpossible.Thisframeworkdoesnotaddresspolicyissues.ASTMSubcommitteeE31.17iswritingstandardsthataddresstheseissues.
